Youth Transition Support

At LMA, we understand the importance of support in helping our community overcome barriers such as language, cultural stress, discrimination and more.

Our Youth Transition Support programs provide capacity-building activities and mentoring to empower young migrants aged 15 to 25 to thrive in their new community.

The LMA’s Youth Transition Support Employment readiness program is designed to prepare young adults for life beyond school, equipping them with the skills and qualifications needed to succeed in the workplace.

We offer targeted programs in various industries, helping participants build their resumes and gain practical experience. Through hands-on training, mentoring, and industry-specific courses, we focus on developing essential job skills that employers value. 

Construction

At LMA, we recognise that building a successful future starts with providing our youth with the right tools and opportunities.

As part of our Youth Transition Support (YTS) program, we offer specialised training in key industries such as construction, which equips young migrants aged 15 to 25 with the practical skills needed to thrive in the workforce.

Through hands-on training and tailored mentoring, participants can obtain essential qualifications, including Forklift Licenses, Security Certifications, and Traffic Control Tickets.

Hospitality

At LMA, we believe in creating pathways for young migrants to build successful careers in diverse industries.

Our Youth Transitional Support program offers comprehensive training in hospitality, a sector that provides abundant opportunities for growth and development.

One of the standout programs we offer is our Barista Course, which equips participants with the skills and knowledge required to excel in the thriving coffee culture.

Short Courses

At LMA, we offer a variety of short courses through our Youth Transition Support program, aimed at upskilling young migrants aged 15 to 25 in exciting and in-demand industries. Our courses include perfume making, makeup artistry, and floral arts, which provide practical training and hands-on experience in creative fields. 

These courses help participants develop valuable skills, boost confidence, and explore potential career paths. Our students gain real-world insights that can lead to employment or entrepreneurship by connecting with industry professionals. LMA supports young adults in turning their passions into successful futures.

Engagement

LMA’s Youth Transition Support Engagement Programs are designed to support the mental health and well-being of young migrants by creating connections within the community.

These programs provide a safe and welcoming space for participants to engage in creative and recreational activities while also building supportive relationships with others who share similar experiences. 

Youth Hub

Our Youth Hub is a vibrant and inclusive space designed to empower young people in our community. We aim to create a safe, supportive environment where youth can access a wide range of programs and services that foster personal development, social inclusion, and community engagement.

Through educational workshops, recreational activities, and leadership opportunities, we help young people build essential life skills, improve mental wellbeing, and forge meaningful connections with their peers. In collaboration with STARTTS and SSI (Settlement Services International), our Youth Hub offers specialised support for young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.

These partnerships enhance our ability to provide culturally sensitive services, trauma-informed care, and tailored programs that address the unique challenges faced by newcomers to Australia. Together, we work to ensure that all young people in our community have the resources and support they need to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Beauty and Fitness Expo

The Beauty and Fitness Expo is designed to inspire and empower young adults by promoting wellness, self-care and physical fitness. This event combines workshops and demonstrations in beauty, skincare and fitness, offering participants a holistic approach to well-being. 

Paint and Tea

The Paint and Tea program, part of LMA’s Youth Transition Support Engagement initiative, offers young adults a creative outlet to express themselves while connecting with others in a relaxed, supportive environment. Through guided painting sessions accompanied by tea, participants can explore their artistic side, reduce stress and find joy in creativity.

YTS Education

At LMA, we understand the unique challenges young refugees and vulnerable young migrants face as they begin new lives in a foreign country. Our school programs are designed to empower these individuals, providing essential support and resources to help them overcome obstacles such as language barriers, discrimination, and hands-on experiences. 

By creating strong social connections through sports, leadership activities, and community involvement, we ensure that our participants not only survive but thrive in their new environments. With the support of the Department of Home Affairs, our partners, and our dedicated team, LMA is committed to helping young people integrate successfully into Australian society and achieve their full potential.

Family Programs

Our Family Programs are dedicated to supporting parents and families by providing education, resources, and opportunities that promote strong inclusion and well-being. 

These programs are designed to empower local community members with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the challenges to parenting in today’s diverse ad ever-changing society. 

Mums & Bubs

LMA’s Mums and Bubs program is a welcoming playgroup for mothers and their children aged 0-5. Our program offers a fun space for kids to learn and play while allowing mums to connect. The session begins with free play, featuring toys and activities that support early childhood development. This is followed by group time, where everyone enjoys a healthy snack, songs and many more activities. 

In addition to play, we monitor for development delays and provide referrals to services such as Koorana for preschool waitlists and enrollments. 

Parenting Programs

LMA’s Parenting Programs provide parents with essential tools to raise their children confidently in today’s complex society. We focus on practical strategies for positive discipline, child development, and effective communication. These programs help parents balance cultural values with modern challenges, ensuring their children thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. 

Through our programs, parents also connect with others, building a supportive community where they can learn and grow together. 

Domestic & Family Violence Support Services for CALD Women

The Lebanese Muslim Association (LMA) is dedicated to supporting Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) women and their children affected by domestic and family violence. Our comprehensive services aim to promote healing, safety, and empowerment while offering culturally relevant and faith-based resources. We serve CALD women who have experienced domestic violence, providing practical support, safety planning, and facilitating access to educational and employment opportunities.

Our objectives include delivering practical support, fostering independence through education and employment guidance, and creating community awareness to reduce stigma around domestic violence in CALD communities. We offer group support sessions, safety planning assistance, and culturally sensitive counseling.

Our commitment extends to ongoing advocacy for the rights and well-being of women and children affected by domestic violence.To broaden our impact, we engage the community through trained volunteers and community leaders, and collaborate with local organisations. We run awareness campaigns to educate the community about domestic violence. The LMA is here to support CALD women, ensuring they know they are not alone and that there is hope for a safer, brighter future. All our services are confidential and provided with respect for cultural and religious backgrounds.

The Community Grants Program provides financial support to assist local community-based organisations to develop and implement initiatives that enhance individual and/or community wellbeing in the Canterbury

Bankstown Local Government Area.Grants are issued under five categories: Community, Youth, Arts/Cultural, Sport and Recreation and Events.

Our holiday programs unite communities, creating social cohesion and teamwork among children, youth and families.

These programs provide a safe and inclusive space where participants can engage in enriching activities, build friendships, and strengthen their ability to work together effectively. 

School Programs

Our school programs are designed to keep students engaged, motivated and prepared for life beyond the classroom. These programs provide a dynamic environment where young people can explore new interests, develop essential life skills, and build lasting connections with their peers.

Through a range of activities, including educational workshops, mentorship, and hands-on experiences, we help students gain practical skills that will serve them throughout their lives. 

Community Building

Our Community Building Program empowers families, parents, and individuals by offering activities that enhance their skills and help them adapt to change in society.

Through workshops, training sessions, and group activities, we aim to strengthen connections within the community while supporting personal and professional growth.
