Imam Ali bin Abi Taleb Mosque

Since 1962, the Lebanese Muslim Association (LMA) has been a cornerstone of community support and engagement. With over 1,000 members, 400 initiatives, and a dedicated team of more than 40 staff, the LMA plays a vital role in NSW.

Its reach has grown to include a vast spectrum of communities and networks from across NSW, including having three mosques and partnerships with a number of stakeholders and sponsors.

For over 45 years, Lakemba Mosque has been the heart of the local community, drawing thousands of people every week and over 100,000 attendees for major events like Eid celebrations.

As the caretakers of Lakemba Mosque, the LMA not only maintains its legacy but also innovates, making it the first solar-powered mosque in Australia.

Othman Bin Affan Mosque

The LMA operates the Othman Bin Affan Mosque, also known as Cabramatta Mosque, one of three mosques in the Fairfield City region. Every day, the mosque opens its doors for the five daily prayers and the congregational Friday Jumm’ah prayers, serving as a spiritual anchor for the community.

But Cabramatta Mosque is more than a place of worship. It’s a hub of activity and learning. Each week, the mosque runs lectures in Arabic and English alongside Tajweed classes for both youth and adults. Beyond its religious offerings, Cabramatta Mosque fosters a strong sense of community through its public gym and a variety of activities.

The community finds support and camaraderie in the mums and bubs playgroup, while seniors enjoy excursions. The LMA also provides Monthly BBQs and fundraising market days to create a lively, communal atmosphere, drawing people from all walks of life to share in the mosque's community spirit.

Omar Ibn Khattab Mosque

In the rural township of Young, NSW, the LMA manages the Omar Ibn Khattab Mosque, known as Young Mosque. Established in 1994 on the historic site of an old drive-in picture theatre, the mosque has become a vital part of the local community.

Today, it serves a thriving Muslim community of over 400 residents, reflecting the area's growth and unity.

Imams &

Sheikhs

The LMA employ Imams, religious scholars and Qur’an reciters to help facilitate the spiritual needs of the ever growing Muslim community. As well as leading the five daily prayers, the Imams and religious scholars all play an important role within the community and provide essential services for all in need.
